Photos, location and notes

The app uses the camera to take photographs and precise location to record latitude, longitude, accuracy, capture date and time. Altitude and bearing are included when valid readings are available. Photos, projects and notes are stored in the app’s documents on your iPhone. We do not operate a server that receives this library; optional usage sharing, described below, never includes photos, coordinates or notes.

Location is requested while you use the camera screen. There is no background location tracking. You can revoke permissions in iPhone Settings; GPS capture needs these permissions to function.

Sharing and backups

When you export a photo, PDF, CSV or backup, it may contain precise location, time, notes and images. Files are shared only to destinations you choose through the system share sheet or Files. Further processing depends on the recipient or service you select.

Automatic iCloud backup is optional and off by default. Enabling it uploads originals, recorded locations and times, projects, notes, comparisons, Recently Deleted records, and your report business name or logo to the private CloudKit database in your Apple Account. A device identifier and name distinguish each iPhone’s backup. The developer cannot access this library through Apple’s developer portal. Uploads run while the app is open, use your iCloud storage and may use cellular data. The app displays completion or upload errors. Turning backup off keeps existing copies; manage Fieldnote data in iCloud storage settings. Exported archives and system backups are separate from this feature.

Apple services

The map uses MapKit and Apple’s map services to load the displayed area. Purchases, downloads, system backups and native review requests also use Apple services. We do not receive payment-card details or maintain a Fieldnote user account. These services are subject to Apple’s privacy policies.

Advertising and tracking

Fieldnote does not include an advertising network, advertising identifier or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. Counters used to decide when to request a review stay on the device. Apple may provide aggregate sales information and diagnostics to the developer according to the platform’s permissions and controls.

Optional usage sharing

Starting with version 1.1, you can turn on Settings → Help improve Fieldnote → Optional usage sharing. It is off by default. From version 1.2, Fieldnote asks you once whether to enable it — when you first open the app, or, if you updated from an earlier version, once after your first saved photo. Choosing “Not now”, or turning sharing off later, means you are not asked again. When on, the app sends TMK Consultoria Ltda a random identifier for this installation, a random identifier for each event, the day (UTC), the app version and predefined actions: opening the app or camera, taking and saving a photo, comparisons, project creation, export, report preparation, cancellations, system sharing, and whether a camera visit ended without a photo because GPS was not ready or camera or location access was off. Photos, GPS coordinates, notes, project and file names, error text, advertising identifiers and activity in other apps are never sent.

We use this data only to understand app usage and fix problems, with no advertising and no sale of data. The identifier is pseudonymous and specific to this installation; it is deleted and replaced if you turn sharing off and on again. Turning sharing off stops collection and removes the identifier and unsent events from the iPhone; it does not withdraw data already received, but you can request deletion at the email above. Pending events older than 90 days are discarded on the device. Received events expire after 90 days and are deleted automatically, which can take up to one more day.

Data is stored in a TMK-controlled Google Cloud project (Cloud Run and Firestore) in the São Paulo region (southamerica-east1), with Google acting as infrastructure provider. Google and network providers process IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and operate the service; request logs, which include the IP address, are kept for 30 days. These are not part of the usage events.

Feedback from the app

Settings → Send feedback prepares an email to contato@terosmk.com.br with what you were trying to do and what worked or got in your way. You review and send it with the Mail app; nothing is sent automatically. Fieldnote attaches no photos, location, usage identifier or diagnostic logs. We receive the message and your email address, handled as described in “When you contact support”. Feedback is independent of usage sharing.

Retention and deletion

Photos and notes remain on your device while the app’s documents exist. Recently Deleted retains originals for recovery; this version has no individual permanent-delete option. To remove all local data, delete the app and its documents through iPhone Storage. This does not remove copies in backups, Files or other services; manage those at their respective destinations.

When you contact support

If you email support, we receive your address and the content you choose to send. We use that information to respond and resolve your request, retaining it as needed for that purpose and applicable obligations. Send only necessary details; photographs and coordinates are not required to start a support request.

This website

These pages have no forms, advertising or analytics tools added by us. The hosting provider processes technical connection data, such as an IP address and request information, to serve and protect the website. External links and your email provider have their own policies.

Your controls and requests

You control permissions and files on your iPhone. To request information about or deletion of information you sent to support, use the contact email above. Support cannot remotely view, recover or delete photographs in your device library or private iCloud database.
