1. Open Camera and allow camera and precise-location access.
2. Choose a project if you want to group photos by job.
3. Wait for a fresh GPS reading and tap the shutter.
4. Open Library to add a note or export.

Capture requires a location reading no older than 15 seconds and accuracy within 50 metres. Check Precise Location in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → GPS Camera. Move somewhere with better GPS reception. If camera access was denied, enable it in iPhone Settings.

Camera capture and the local library work without internet. Your iPhone still needs a valid GPS reading. The map needs a connection to load tiles. Offline operation does not guarantee GPS reception inside a building.

Open a photo and choose Export photo. Select stamped JPEG, original JPEG, PDF field report or CSV spreadsheet. To export a group, use Select in Library. Then choose Save to Files or an installed app. Exports include coordinates; check the recipient before sharing.

Open the earlier photo in Library and choose Take after photo. Use the translucent guide to match the framing and adjust its strength with the slider. The comparison opens after capture. Slide to compare both photos. Each original and its capture readings are preserved.

Filter a project in Library and open Report, or select photos and choose PDF in Export. Enter a title and client, then add your business name and logo in Report branding. The PDF brings together photos, comparisons, notes and capture details. Share using the iPhone’s native share sheet.

Originals and notes stay in the app’s local documents. Fieldnote does not automatically duplicate photos into Photos. If you enable iCloud backup, the app also saves a private copy in your Apple Account. You choose when to share files with other people.

In Settings → iCloud backup, enable automatic backup. Uploads run while the app is open and resume when you return with a connection. Check the completion status before changing phones. On the new iPhone, use the same Apple Account and choose Find my iCloud backups. Backup uses your iCloud storage and may use cellular data.

For a separate archive, in Settings → Your photos, export a Fieldnote backup and keep a separate copy in Files, on a computer or with a provider you choose. Later, use Restore backup to select that archive. It includes originals, projects, notes and Recently Deleted records. A valid restore can repair missing or damaged originals while preserving notes you already edited.

Create and check a separate copy before replacing, resetting or erasing your iPhone. Removing the app can delete its local documents. Sharing a photo or PDF does not create a complete backup.

Open Recently Deleted in Settings and restore the photo. This version retains those originals until the app’s documents are removed; it does not yet offer permanent deletion of individual records. To remove all local data, first export what you need and then delete the app through iPhone Storage.

The app uses a one-time purchase with the acquired version’s features included. There are no subscriptions, ads or in-app purchases. The applicable price appears in the App Store. Availability depends on publication and your account’s country.

Fieldnote preserves the location and time reported by the device. These readings help document context, but do not certify authenticity or prevent changes outside the app.
